It started with a handshake
and it still does, mostly.
pmwPlus began in 1951 as a small accounting practice in Orange – founded on hand-written ledgers, careful work, and a willingness to actually answer the phone.
That spirit has shaped every chapter since. The technology has changed – cloud accounting platforms, AI-assisted compliance, real-time financial dashboards. The disciplines have expanded – business advisory, financial planning, lending, audit. The team has grown from one local accountant to over 20 specialists working under one roof.
But the way we work hasn’t shifted much. We still listen first. We still explain things plainly. We still pick up the phone.
The major chapters

1951
The firm is established by World War II veterans ES Hunt and Merv Bertie and was known as Hunt Bertie & Co.

1975
The firm welcomed Derek Pigot as a Partner to the firm and ES Hunt retired.

1977
Merv Bertie retired and the firm later became known as Derek Pigot & Associates. Derek ran the firm like a well-oiled machine and was instrumental in its early growth through the late 90's.

2001
Ray Miller joins the firm and was responsible for the establishment of the Financial Planning team, which continues to help our clients achieve their goals.

2004
Daniel Miller joins the firm.

2006
Ray Miller and Daniel Miller were appointed Partners of the firm, Derek Pigot retires.

2013
pmwPlus moves to newly renovated premises at 65 Hill Street in Orange where we are still located today. The renovation brought back to life the Old Dudley Hospital.

2015
pmwPlus become one of the first firms in regional NSW to achieve Xero Platinum Partner Status - leading the move to cloud accounting.

2017
pmwPlus establishes an offshore team.

2023
Nathan Byrne is appointed as a Partner of the Firm.

2024
Mark Bettinzoli is appointed as a Partner of the Firm.

2026
pmwPlus merge with successful local firm Broadey & Haydon. Simon Broadley and Michael Haydon are appointed as Partners of the Firm.

pmwPlus was founded in 1951, making it one of the longest-established accounting firms in Orange NSW and the Central West. Some client relationships now span three generations of the same family.
